With COVID-19 rising again, parents are in scramble mode, trying to find ways to keep kids engaged, active, and supported during the pandemic.
MnEEP has gathered a handful of Minnesota organizations providing distinct, inspiring online programming and digital courses this summer, from online STEM courses at the Bakken Museum to writing classes for all ages at the Loft Literary Center.
Check it out, and email Yvette Massey at email@example.com to have your virtual summer program or camp added to the list!
The Bakken Museum
See how magnets work, try a design challenge, and learn about the history of science fiction. The Bakken Museum’s digital learning content provides lots of ways to engage with science, technology, engineering, and math wherever you are!
Summer Camps at SteppingStone create space for young artists to express themselves, make cool art, and be who they are! Join the dynamic and multifaceted community of youth artists who come together from different schools across the state to collaborate and create theatre together.
The Loft Literary Center
The Loft’s Young Writers’ Program consists of week-long writing camps that take place over five weeks in the summer. Due to the current public health concerns around COVID-19, we have moved our Young Writers’ Program online.
Most classes will take place using a combination of Zoom and Google Classroom, depending on age range and specific needs of the class.
Our classes are generally broken down into suggested age ranges of 6–8, 9–11, 12–14, 13–17, and 15–17 years. Like all of our other programming this summer, Loft/MCBA Combo classes will take place online and happen in partnership with the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and include both writing instruction and hands-on book arts activities and instruction.
ThreeSixty Journalism: University of St. Thomas
We’re going virtual! All 2020 summer journalism camps are online and free to participate in. Visit our sign-up page to join us!
High school students: Join us for multimedia learning and exploration at St. Thomas! ThreeSixty’s year-round programming offers the chance to discover and share your voice and story, enhance your critical thinking and develop your college readiness. Whether you dream of pursuing journalism, digital media arts or strategic communication, or you’re just exploring, ThreeSixty helps prepare you for success.
Programming is led by full-time ThreeSixty staff, program alumni and St. Thomas faculty and staff, and supported by media professionals and community partners.
4H: Virtual Explorers Day Camps
Stay connected, explore the outdoors, serve your local community, rise to new challenges and make new friends! Be an Urban Explorer this summer!
Urban Explorers Day Camp is going virtual AND outdoors! Join 4-H Youth Development and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board for week-long, hands-on activities from the comfort of your own home, and still have an opportunity to get outside, explore nature, save pollinators, meet expert naturalists and investigate science.
Each week of camp includes 5 daily check-in sessions, group games, learning challenges and (optional) outdoor exploration opportunities that connect you with your local green spaces.
Classes will be held in Zoom or Google Meet.
