2016 STATE OF STUDENTS OF COLOR AND
AMERICAN INDIAN STUDENTS REPORT
From our Executive Director…
Minnesota Education Equity Partnership is pleased to release the 2016 State of Students of Color and American Indian Students Report.
Since 2001, we have produced this Report as a way to keep Minnesota focused on the systemic education opportunity gaps that negatively impact our state’s communities of color and American Indian communities. Unlike our past reports however, we chose not to simply focus on the quantitative academic achievement outcomes, but to also offer a framework through which to understand the forces that contribute to these results.
Our intent is to encourage a deeper awareness of systemic racism so that Minnesota develops a commitment to deliver education that values both academic rigor and cultural/racial relevancy as inter-connected and mutually reinforcing outcomes. Indeed we believe, and research demonstrates, that one is not possible without the other.
Our Associate Executive Director, Jennifer Godinez (firstname.lastname@example.org, 651-645-7400 x203) and I (email@example.com, 651-645-7400 x206) are available to facilitate discussion and present, or to field any questions you may have about this Report. Please reach out to us!
We believe this tool can and will contribute to a new level of educational excellence and equity in Minnesota.
